Press Conference

NYC Mayor Eric Adams and Attorney General Letitia James Hold Press Conference at BMCC 
On June 29, NYC Mayor Eric Adams and New York State Attorney General Letitia James held a press conference at BMCC to announce a lawsuit against approximately 10 "ghost gun" distributors for "fueling the gun violence crisis and endangering New Yorkers." The Attorney General and the Mayor said this is an on-going, multi-agency investigation focused on ghost guns which are mostly made from plastic material. This comes after the Supreme Court struck down a New York law limiting guns in public.

Paramedic Associate Degree Graduates Celebrate Their Achievement
A partnership between BMCC and the Urban Assembly School for Emergency Management (UASEM), an NYC DOE Specialized High School, enabled 11 students to begin as high school seniors then enroll at BMCC, concurrently earning a high school diploma and Paramedic Associate degree. They also earned both New York State and national EMT certifications. The program is part of CUNY's Strengthening Community Colleges Consortium funded through the U.S. Department of Labor.

Pinning Ceremony Honors Nursing Graduates
BMCC recognized 69 graduates from January and 78 graduates from June during a traditional rite of passage, the Nurse’s Pinning Ceremony. Held June 22 in Theatre 1 at BMCC’s Chambers Street campus, the program’s featured guests included BMCC President Anthony E. Munroe, who told the graduates, "You have learned many skills that equip you to make a difference every day in someone’s life—no matter how big or small. You will be a light in their lives during the darkness.” Graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (RNs). For more information on the BMCC Nursing program, contact (212) 220-8230 or nursing@bmcc.cuny.edu.

Vaccine BMCC COVID-19 Testing Site: Summer Hours Through August 15
To help contain the spread of COVID-19, CUNY continues to conduct random testing of BMCC community members. If selected, you will receive an email from no-reply@cleared4work.com with detailed instructions. There is no appointment necessary for free COVID-19 testing at 19 CUNY sites. BMCC offers testing in Fiterman Hall, 81 Barclay Street at the Café External Entrance. Through August 15, the SUMMER HOURS for testing are Monday and Tuesday, 9 a.m.–1 p.m.; Wednesday and Thursday, 2 p.m.–6 p.m. and Friday, Saturday and Sunday, closed. Visit the Reimagining BMCC website for updates and information.    
MBJ MBJ Food Service Summer Hours
MBJ Food Service (Cafeteria) at BMCC's 199 Chambers Street campus will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday to Thursday through August 24. For more information, please email mbjfoodservice@bmcc.cuny.edu.
Safety Office of Public Safety Offers Resources and Services 
The Office of Public Safety ensures a safe, secure and comfortable learning environment at BMCC through resources including free C.P.R., A.E.D./First Aid, and Campus-Community Emergency Response trainings for faculty, staff and students. Public Safety also trains staff as campus fire wardens. Cafeteria BMCC Panther Pantry Assists Students Facing Food Insecurity 
BMCC students facing a food emergency are encouraged to visit the Panther Pantry and take home pre-packed bags of nutritious, non-perishable food, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hot meals are distributed Thursdays from 1 to 2 p.m. The Panther Pantry is in the Advocacy and Resource Center (ARC),199 Chambers Street, Room S-230. Open House

Summer 2022: Admissions In-Person Open House is Back
Hosting the first in-person Open House since the start of the pandemic, BMCC Admissions rolled out the welcome mat on Saturday, June 25 to over 300 admitted students and their families. Faculty, staff and administrators across campus joined forces to showcase the best of BMCC. Guests enjoyed lunch, toured the main campus building, learned ways to secure money for school, and collected information from success programs and dozens of campus services. The event also featured faculty from over 20 different academic programs who engaged students in interactive mini-lessons to give them a feel for what their future classes will be like. As the event concluded, guests were invited to collect a free bag of non-perishable food, courtesy of the Panther Pantry.

Open Enrollment at The CUNY Center in Harlem
BMCC Admissions now serves students at the CUNY Center in Harlem, 55 West 125th Street, on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer by appointment only. Students will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with an Admissions Specialist to get assistance with completing their next steps to enroll for the Fall semester. Fall 2022 Advisement and Registration is Open
Faculty and staff, please encourage students to schedule a Zoom meeting with their advisor to discuss their academic progress and registration. Things to know: All students must meet with their advisor before registering. Students can register on CUNYfirst or meet with a Panther Station Specialists on Zoom. When choosing classes on CUNYfirst, students should pay close attention to the class meeting mode (in-person, online or hybrid), as well as the class session (15, 8 or 7 weeks). Students attending in-person or hybrid classes must upload proof of vaccination. Wilkinson Former Mathematics Chair Patricia Ridge Wilkinson Passes Away
Dr. Patricia Ridge Wilkinson, a long-serving chair of the BMCC Mathematics department, passed away June 13 following a long illness. Earning an Ed.D. from Columbia University, Dr. Wilkinson devoted much of her professional life to increasing the role of women in mathematics. In 2002, CUNY honored Dr. Wilkinson for her scholarly achievements. Memorial donations can be made to St. Catherine Academy, 2250 Williamsburg Rd. Bronx, NY 10469.  Services will be announced at a later date.

BMCC will be closed for Summer Fridays on July 1, July 15, July 22, July 29, August 5 and August 12.

Week of July 4 Is NOT a Summer Friday Week
The week of July 4 will be a 9-to-5, Monday-through-Friday week, with BMCC closed that Monday, July 4. The College will NOT be closed on Friday, July 8.

Starting July 19, a seminar provided by CAA@yourservice, Unplugged: Digital Detoxing, will provide practical steps on how to detox from the digital world. Sign up now for this seminar on demand.

Mandatory Trainings for Full-Time Staff and Faculty 
The ESPARC (Employee Sexual and Interpersonal Violence Prevention and Response Course) and WPV (Workplace Violence Prevention) trainings are mandatory for all BMCC full-time faculty and staff. The deadline to complete the 2021-2022 mandatory ESPARC and WPV trainings is July 28. Both Trainings can be completed via Blackboard and are located under My Organizations.
