BMCC Team Wins Fed Challenge
For the fifth year in a row, a BMCC student team led by Business Management Professors Julian Schroeder and Yanni Tournas has been awarded First Place in the Maiden Lane Division of the National College Fed Challenge, New York Region. The team delivered a 20-minute presentation, then took part in a Q & A with a panel of judges including academics and economists. To prepare, they met through the BMCC Finance and Banking Club to discuss monetary policy and other related topics.

How to Show Support for Dreamers and DACA
Undocumented students are a cornerstone of the BMCC and CUNY communities. Animal Farm Panther Pride Celebration December 6:  BMCC Women’s Volleyball and Men’s Soccer Win CUNYAC CC Championship
The BMCC Athletics program in conjunction with the BMCC Student Government Association invite students, faculty and staff to join a celebration of the Fall 2022 CUNYAC Community College Men’s Soccer and Women’s Volleyball Champions, December 6 from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Student Affairs office at 199 Chambers Street, Room S-230. The celebration will be followed by a double-header basketball game featuring both the BMCC men’s and women’s basketball teams taking on Bronx Community College starting at 5 p.m. in the gymnasium.

De-Stressfest

Pet Therapy, Games and More at Fall 2022 De-Stressfest December 1 to 9
Students who might be feeling stressed about upcoming exams and other end-of-the-semester deadlines are invited to join activities planned for the Fall 2022 De-Stressfest set for December 1 to 9. This year’s events include the 10-minute chair massage, board games, crafts and pet therapy. Students are also encouraged to de-stress through the BMCC Fitness Center, swimming pool and other activities happening in the Athletics Department throughout the week.

Rabbi Learning About Antisemitism: Awareness, Ally-ship and Action December 5
Students, faculty and staff are invited to a discussion of the history of antisemitism, December 5 from 4 to 5 p.m. via Zoom. The event will feature Rabbi Jonah Geffen, senior Jewish Educator and Campus Rabbi at Hunter Hillel. For more information, contact Diana Baez at Dbaez@bmcc.cuny.edu.

Give the Gift of Sight: Donate Eyewear to Those in Need
In partnership with the Lions Clubs International, the BMCC Office of Evening/Weekend and Off-Site Programs is collecting used eyewear that can be repurposed to help children and adults in need of glasses around the world. Recipients of the eyewear will be provided with new lenses. Please make sure the frames are intact. The drop box is located in the Academic Affairs office, 199 Chambers Street, Room S-715. Sustainability CUNY Startups Offers Free Program to Help Students Jump-Start Their Startups 
Let your students know that if they have a startup blueprint, prototype or business plan, CUNY Startups offers a free accelerator program to bring their ideas to fruition. The New Venture Accelerator (NVA 2) is a FREE 10-week program committed to helping students jump-start their startups through engaging workshops and mentoring. Encourage students to apply by December 31 to join a Spring 2023 collaborative experience, where students with distinct entrepreneurial goals launch their businesses.

Students value the advice and support of BMCC faculty and staff. As trusted influencers, please encourage students to meet with their advisor to track their academic progress and set a plan for success. Things to know: All students must meet with their advisor before registering. Students can register on CUNYfirst or meet with a Panther Station Specialists on Zoom. When choosing classes on CUNYfirst, students should pay close attention to the class meeting mode (in-person, online or hybrid), as well as the class session (15, 8 or 7 weeks). Students attending in-person or hybrid classes must upload proof of vaccination. All CUNY Employees Are Mandated to Take These Two Trainings on Blackboard or Zoom
Both CUNY-mandated, 2022-2023 Work Place Violence (WPV) and Employee Sexual Misconduct Prevention and Response Course (ESPARC) trainings are available on Blackboard. Log into your Blackboard account and select the BMCC ESPARC or WVP training under “My organization." Starting November 22, both trainings will also be available on Zoom and will take two hours to complete as they are presented consecutively. For questions, reach out to your campus Compliance Training Administrator. To schedule a Zoom training reach out to Josefa Larios at jlarios@bmcc.cuny.edu.

Diversity-Related Programs Available to BMCC Employees
The CUNY University Training Office is offering diversity-related programs this Fall 2022 semester. Courses targeted to staff at all levels, including directors, managers and supervisors, cover topics including how to present persuasively in person or virtually, how to build an inclusive culture, how to move from microaggressions to microaffirmations and more. Before registering for any professional development course, BMCC employees must receive written approval from their supervisor, then complete the Fall Course Registration Form. Next, the BMCC employee and their supervisor will receive a confirmation email from University.Training@cuny.edu within seven business days. Seats are limited, so please register as soon as possible.

BMCC’s Amaziah Richberg Named CUNYAC CC Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week
After helping the Panthers snap a two-game losing streak last Tuesday, freshman Amaziah Richberg received the CUNYAC CC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week recognition. Richberg is the third BMCC men's basketball player to receive the award joining teammates Daniel Laffitte and Leverson Tulien.
