Super Fair Provides Options on Services and Academics
BMCC's Welcome Back Super Fair on September 12 presented information on services and degree programs.

BMCC Observes 9/11 With Wall of Remembrance  
On September 11, the Office of Student Activities (OSA) hosted a Wall of Remembrance at 199 Chambers Street. Students, faculty and staff were encouraged to share their memories on rows of sticky notes for the BMCC community to read. BMCC is the only college in the United States to have lost a campus building during a terrorist attack. A plaque at 199 Chambers Street commemorates the eight BMCC community members who died that day while working at the World Trade Center, or participated in rescue efforts. In the hours and days after the attacks, BMCC worked with The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to create a first-responder triage in the college’s gym. Later, the college served as a 24-hour command center for public agencies. Seventeen years after the event, the Wall of Remembrance opens dialogue about the event. "Many BMCC students weren’t even born when the Twin Towers came down," said Kayla Maryles, Assistant Director of Student Activities and Civic Involvement. "The Wall of Remembrance brings awareness for generations moving forward." ​     ​​

Modes of Mapping Exhibition Walk-Through for Faculty and Staff 
Lisa Panzera, director of the Shirley Fiterman Art Center and curator of the Center's current exhibition, Modes of Mapping, will lead a walk-through of the exhibition on September 26 at 3 p.m. "The purpose of the walk-through is to familiarize faculty and staff with the exhibition and explore its potential as an educational experience for students," says Elsy Benitez, Curatorial Assistant. Center for Career Development Holds First Outdoor Tabling Event
Almost 140 students participated in the BMCC Center for Career Development​'s first outdoor tabling event on August 27 at 199 Chambers Street. Students participated in exercises where they envisioned their future with drawings and by completing the sentence, “Start Here, Go …” Driada Rivas, the Center’s interim director, said “We wanted to target all students, but especially freshmen to learn more about the Center for Career Development and the multitude of services we provide.”

Join the BMCC Team: Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
Members of the BMCC community, family and friends are invited to register online to join BMCC's team for the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in Central Park, October 14. The team will meet at at 8 a.m. at West 67th Street and Central Park West. This year’s theme, "What Unites Us, Ignites Us," celebrates survivorship and helps raise funds for breast cancer research, public education and patient service programs.
